I have written out a few blog post in the last couple weeks but have kept them as drafts.  I haven’t published them yet because I feel like there is something missing.  I have been waiting for God to speak to me and I hear nothing.  I am trying to decide if this is writers block or God is speaking, but I am unable to hear him.  I believe it is the latter because there is so much going on around me right now that I think there is too much white noise and I can’t hear God over it.  Even when I am quiet, my mind is still talking to me.  From my “to-do” list to my regrets.

My hubby and I put on white noise for our daughters as they sleep.  This helps them drown out any noise around them so they can go to sleep and stay asleep.  White noise is especially important for nap time because I live in a small ranch style house with very thin walls.  My oldest has a hard time remembering she has a baby sister sleeping in the other room as she runs up and down the hallway, plays the piano, jumps around and sings songs at the top of her lungs!  It doesn’t matter how many times I tell her to try and be quiet, she forgets.  This makes my mommy buttons all pop off!! But thankfully, with white noise we have a 80% chance that the babes will stay asleep!

For babies white noise is helpful and at times necessary, but for women, not so much.  There is a white noise that is consistently being played in our heads.   We have a tendency to have to too much going on, we are extreme multi-taskers.  That is what makes us very unique & different from men.  This becomes a great quality for working women, being a wife or mother.  We are able to get a lot done, in a short amount of time.  But this very unique quality also comes with a  product warning.  When God made us, he slapped this warning sticker on our forehead (hypothetically of course) and we just need to look into the mirror and read it!

WARNING:  This product has the tendency to over-analyze, over plan, get over emotional, and have all sorts of conversations going on at the same time.  This is called white-noise and causes this product to malfunction & not hear from her creator.  If you experience any of these symptoms please press the reset button and be still for how ever long it takes to hear from the ONE TRUE GOD!  If you perform all these task and still have problems, call 1-800-2HEAVEN.

I am unable to see this giant warning sticker on my forehead right now.  The sticker probably even has blinking neon lights attached to it, and my eyes are closed.  This white noise can creep in little by little, slowly, so that it doesn’t get detected.  Almost like a sneaky snake.  In the bible the enemy disguises himself as a snake in the Garden of Eden.  That is where he tempted Eve to eat from the Tree of Good and Evil.  She knew better but the enemy made the tree look so appealing to eat, and she wanted to know everything, just like God.  When she took that bite, she immediately knew she was naked and was unable to commune with God again in the Garden.

Genisis 3 – The Fall

1Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”  2The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,  3but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ ” 4“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman.   5“For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”  6When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.   7Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.  8Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”  10He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”  11And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”  12The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”  13Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”  14So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this,“Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals, You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.   15And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring^a and hers; he will crush^b your head, and you will strike his heel.”  16To the woman he said, “I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children.  Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.”  17To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’ “Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life.  18It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field.   19By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”  20Adam^c named his wife Eve,^d because she would become the mother of all the living.  21The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.  22And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” 23So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. 24After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side^e of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

The enemy has a way of convincing us that we always need more.  He creates this white noise in our heads so that we are unable to hear the truth.  In the Garden, the truth was washed away with three little words; “Are you sure…?”  The enemy had Eve questioning if she heard God right the first time.  For us the enemy takes what God has designed for good and uses it against us.  The enemy knows that God has something amazing to say to us, so he fills our minds with lies and white noise.  God does has something amazing to say to you today.  Lets push aside all the white noise so that we can hear him say, “I love you dear child, you are mine.”  Lets commune with God, he is waiting for us with open arms.

I am going to hit the reset button right now.  I am going to stop everything that I am doing and just be quiet.  I am going to push aside any thoughts I have, good or bad, and listen for Gods voice to come through.  If you are unable to do it right now, set aside some time later on in the day to work on this.  It may help to focus your mind by opening your bible and reflecting on some of God’s promises or listening to worship music.  When you are done I would love to hear how God spoke to you during this time!
